The LiDCO System
The LiDCO system is used to calibrate PulseCO. It can also be used as a very accurate and minimally invasive indicator dilution cardiac output. The LiDCO System consists of a proprietary disposable lithium sensitive sensor which is attached to an existing arterial line, a connector which sends a signal from the sensor to a monitor and a monitor which displays a computation of cardiac output.
It is Safe - Central/peripheral venous and arterial catheters are usually already in place in patients needing cardiac output measurements. No further catheter is needed, so the method avoids the risks associated with Cardiac catheterisation.
LiDCO minimally invasive monitoring products improve hospital standards of care, improve patient outcome and reduce costs.
Accurate - Clinical trials have been completed that demonstrate that the LiDCO System is at least as accurate as thermodilution. Simple to use - The method is simple and quick to use. It has the advantage that there is no unpleasant procedure for a conscious patient to undergo (such as insertion of a pulmonary artery catheter) and the time taken to set up and apply is fewer than 5 minutes.
